Clean web and print design and creative direction for the Department of Surgery’s 2021 annual report

What began as a 60-page print report was translated to the digital space in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2020, this website has served as a crucial recruitment tool for the department and is shown to prospective residents in their interview process. It showcases key statistics from each year and features a story from each surgical specialty.

The 2021 report focused on young and diverse surgeons, showcasing the results of the department’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts from the prior year. Surgeons from each specialty were interviewed about their backgrounds, passions, and unique perspectives.

Studio photo sessions aimed to captured the surgeons’ strength in the face of challenges and their unique personalities. Detail images showcase devices, tools, or passions that relate to their practice.

With interviews increasingly happening in person, a companion brochure was also designed for 2021 to promote the digital report and showcase the photography and key department metrics.

As Senior Designer, I designed and built the 2020 website and grew to oversee updates in 2021. I served as a key creative point of contact with the client and provided creative direction to photography, design, and development team members for the 2021 iteration.
